Bilingual Paralegal

SUMMARY:

 Will assist with routine legal matters, including clerical and research support services, document preparation and review, interviewing residents, research investigations, fact-checking, and court or trial preparation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meets with attorney regularly to discuss assigned cases or project
  • Draft legal documents, routine pleadings and motions, and PCC documents, including leases, contracts, affidavits
  • Files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to the Chief Legal Officer
  • Interview witnesses and prepare summaries of their statements
  • Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, including evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other items
  • Assists with court proceedings and trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings
  • Creates reports for attorney’s based upon case specifications and attorney requests
  • Work with attorney to develop legal arguments
  • Monitor changes to government guidelines or regulations and submit analysis on pertinent changes
  • Monitor and collect funds for resident-stipulated agreements
  • Transcription of all meeting minutes
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

An associate degree in legal studies, paralegal, or a related field is required. Bachelor’s degree in related fields preferred. A paralegal certificate is required. One to three years of legal support experience is required. Possess a valid CT driver’s license.
